Collaborating closely with Yvette, we embarked on a journey to bring her unique vision to life. It all began when she approached me with the idea of creating a custom sign for her family’s business, providing her business card logo as a reference point. With her vision in mind, we delved into the project, exploring digital mock-ups to refine the design.
Using a blend of pine and walnut, I meticulously cut and molded each wood piece, ensuring precision and attention to detail. Following sanding, the pieces received a transformation through a combination of transparent wood stains, matte spray paints, and acrylics, each chosen to enhance the texture and character of the wood.
Some pieces underwent a process of painting and assembly before receiving a final touch of high gloss spray, while others were treated with finishing oil to achieve a lustrous finish. Bringing everything together, the pieces found their place on a poplar wood board framed with walnut, elevating the sign to a statement piece that captured the essence of Yvette’s vision.
Crafting custom work is always a joy, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to create something truly special for Yvette and her family. It’s moments like these that inspire and drive me to continue pursuing the art of craftsmanship.
